Botanical prints are made using fresh flowers and leaves. These are placed on a piece of silk, rolled around a dowel, tied, and steamed for a while. The resulting colors are always a surprise!
Eucalyptus leaves are placed on silk or wool, rolled around a dowel, and boiled for 1 hour. To achieve the dark, smokey colors, I add one gallon of iron water (1 part vinegar, 2 parts water plus rusty metal) and boil for another hour. Mother Nature always has a surprise for you when you open the cooled bundle.
Eco prints are made using rusted metal pieces instead of flowers. The fabrics used for these are linen and cotton.
